ICFRE conducted International Symposium on International Cooperation for Resilient Landscapes

Dehradun: A two days International Symposium on ‘International Cooperation for Resilient Landscapes’ will be held at the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Dehradun from March 29-30, 2023. This symposium is jointly hosted by the ICFRE and International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO). The symposium is aimed at bringing together experts and scientists from major players in the land use sector, particularly agriculture, forestry, and nature conservation to discuss ways and means for closer cooperation in building future resilient landscapes. Altogether 225 participants from India, the USA, UK, Austria, Canada, Germany, the
Netherlands, Nepal, China, Argentina, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Ethiopia, Malawi, China, and Sri Lanka are participating in the symposium.

The event will start on day 1 with the inaugural ceremony followed by an excursion tour for the participants to Mussoorie Hills and Rajaji National Park where they will be given an exposure to the practices developed for eco-restoration of limestone mining areas and
degraded landscapes and management of vegetation of several distinct zones and forest types and wildlife.

There will be 11 technical sessions on day 2 wherein 27 lead speakers representing national and international organizations will deliberate on 9 different themes and share their experiences for enhancing the intersectoral cooperation for restoration of degraded landscapes. In the poster session 50 research papers will also be presented by the participant researchers. The symposium will be concluded with the valedictory session wherein dignitaries attending the session will address the gathering and recommendations and follow up will be presented. Dr. Dinesh Kumar is the organizing secretary of the event.
