DISTRICT MAGISTRATE DEHRADUN, SONIKA REACHED SHRI DARBAR SAHIB & SAW THE ARRANGEMENTS FOR ORGANIZING THE MELA

Dehradun: Shri Jhande Ji which is the symbol of love, harmony, humanity, brotherhood and faith will be organized in magnificent form this time. That blessed occasion which the ‘sangat’ devotees had been waiting for since long has come now. Sangat devotees in heavy numbers have reached Guru Ki Nagri Dehradun to participate in the mela (fair). On 12th March, at 7:00 a.m. in the morning, the programme will begin with the bringing down of old Shri Jhande Ji (the old holy flag pole). In the afternoon between 2:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m., the new Shri Jhande Ji (the new holy flag pole) will be Raised under the guidance of Sajjadanashin (Spiritual superior of the shrine) of Shri Darbar Sahib, Shri Mahant Devendra Das ji Maharaj. On Tuesday, 14th March 2023, the historical Nagar Parikramma (City Round) will be done.

     On Saturday, district magistrate Dehradun,  Sonika reached Shri Darbar Sahib & saw the arrangements for organizing the fair. District magistrate Sonika , took the blessing of Sajdanashin Shri Mahant Devandra Das ji maharaj . The DM bowed down at Shri Jhanda sahib & met Shri maharaj ji .

       It’s worth mentioning that to participate in the historical Shri Jhande Ji Mela and bow down in front of Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole), sangat devotees in lakhs of numbers arrive from India and abroad every year. The sangat devotees wait patiently the whole year to witness this blessed occasion. On behalf of Shri Darbar Sahib Management Committee, all the necessary arrangements of Shri Jhande ji Fair were adhered a finishing touch on Saturday evening. All the preparations at the ‘Raising point’ of Shri Jhande Ji have also been done.

SHRI GURU RAM RAI JI MAHARAJ IS THE FOUNDER OF DEHRADUN

The history of Shri Jhande Ji Mela is closely associated with the existence of Dehradun. Shri Guru Ram Rai Ji Maharaj has come to the place of Dehradun in the year 1676. He was highly impressed with the peace and beauty of the hill area and established his shelter which made this place to be called as Deradeen. With time, the name changed to Deradoon and then finally to Deradeen. He made this land place of work (karmasthali). Shri Guru Maharaj Ji put and hoisted a big flag in the mid of Doon valley and gave message to people of all times of take blessings from this flag. With this, the tradition of spiritual viewing (darshan) of Shri Jhande Sahib (the holy flag pole) started. Thus, Shri Guru Ram Rai Ji Maharaj is called the founder of Dehradun. He was the eldest son of the seventh Guru of Sikhs, Shri Guru Har Rai Ji. He was born on the fifth day of Holi in 1646 at Kiratpur of District Hoshiarpur (now Ropar)in Punjab.  

THE SANGAT BLESSED WITH ‘GURUMANTRA’  

‘Gurumantra’ was delivered to the Sangat devotees by Shri Mahant Devendra Dass ji Maharaj in the evening of Saturday. The Sangat devotees were blessed by receiving the ‘Gurumantra’. From Sunday, Shri Jhande ji Fair will be formally started. The Sangat while receiving the ‘Gurumantra’ took the blessings of Shri Jhande Sahib and Shri Guru Maharaj ji. Shri Mahant Devendra Dass ji Maharaj explained the significance of ‘Guru Mahima’. Speaking over the occasion, Shri Maharaj ji said that the person follows the path described by Guru, he attains the feeling of Heaven while being on Earth.

MESSAGE OF KEEPING AWAY FROM SOCAIL EVILS DELIVERED 

Shri Mahant Devendra Dass Ji Maharaj delivered the noble message of keeping away from social evils like female feticide, intoxications, dowry and ensure their significant roles in building a prosperous society and nation. He also raised serious concern over environmental conservation. He appealed to the ‘sangat’ devotees to go for afforestation and conserving water resources.

MELAS (FAIRS) INSEPERABLE PARTS OF OUR CULTURE 

Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj in his message said that Melas (Fairs) are inseperable parts of our culture. In the fairs, people from India and abroad exchange knowledge, skills and culture. Melas increase peace, harmony and brotherhood in the society.

 THE HISTORICAL NAGAR PARIKRAMMA (CITY ROUND) WILL BE ON TUESDAY, 14TH MARCH, STARTING AT 7:30 A.M.

Under the guidance of Sajjadanashin of Shri Darbar Sahib, Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj, the historical Nagar Parikramma (City Round) will be carried out. The Nagar Parikramma (City Round) will start at 7:30 a.m. in the morning. More than 25,000  Sangat devotees will participate in the Nagar Parikramma (City Round). Manager of Shri Jhande Ji Mela Organizing Committee and Shri Darbar Sahib, K.C. Juyal informed that as per the tradition, the Nagar Parikramma (City Round) is carried out on the third day of the Raising (AAROHAN) of Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole). On 14th March 2023, at 7:30 a.m. in the morning, the Nagar Parikramma (City Round) will start from Shri Darbar Sahib premises moving towards Saharanpur Chowk, Kanwali Road and thEn will reach Shri Guru Ram Rai Public School, Bindal. Here the sangat devotees will be distributed Prasad of chane, murmure and gur (jaggery). From there, the Nagar Parikramma (City Round) will move towards Tilak Road, Tagore Villa, Clock Tower, then Paltan Bazar, then will pass in front of Police Station, Lakhi Bagh, then to Ritha Mandi and tehn will reach Shri Guru Ram Rai Public School, Bombay Bagh. After that, it will go and bow down at ‘Samadhi Sthal Shri Mahant Sahiban’ (cemetery of prvious Brahmleen Shri Mahants), then finally it will reach back at Shri Darbar Sahib at 12:00 Noon. and conclude.

FAREWELL TO THE SANGAT OF THE EAST 

On 11th Martch, Saturday evening, the sangat of East was distributed with ‘Pagri, ‘Tabeez’ and ‘Prasad’. With this only, the sangat of the East was given a farewell before the Raising (aarohan) of Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole).

BATH WILL BE GIVEN TO SHRI JHANDE JI 

Manager of Shri Jhande ji Fair Management Committee, Mr. K.C. Juyal informed that on Sunday, Shri Jhande ji Fair programme will be initiated at 7:00  am in the Morning. In the Morning, the old Shri Jhande ji (the holy flag pole) will be brought down. The Sangat devotees will make the new Shri Jhande ji (the holy flag pole) will be given a bath with milk, curd, butter, Gangajal and ‘panchgavyon’. Ardas will be done with the prayers as per Vedic rituals. From 7:30 am in the morning, the ceremony on putting on ‘Gilaafs’ over the new Shri Jhande ji ((the holy flag pole) will be initiated. Between 12  pm to 2:00 pm in the afternoon tomorrow on 12th March 2023, Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole) will be raised.

THE PROGRAMME OF SHRI JHANDE JI MELA (FAIR) WILL BE TELECASTED LIVE AT THE SCREENS 

LED screen has been installed at Shri Darbar Sahib premises by Shri Darbar Sahib Mela Organizing Committee. This will enable the heavy numbers of sangat devotees and Doonites to see the live telecast of the programme at the mela (fair) site.

MEDICAL UNIT OF SHRI MAHANT INDIRESH HOSPITAL COMES INTO ACTION  

Medical team of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital has been made deputed at the mela (fair) site. This includes doctors, pharmacists and nurses. Mela Hospital had been started. Free of cost medicine will also be provided to the patients by Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital. The ambulance of the hospital will also be there in order to handle any casualty. This information was made available by Chief Public Relations Officer of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Bhupender Raturi.

SANGAT DEVOTEES GET COLOURED WITH GURU BHAKTI 

Sangat devotees that have come from India and abroad have got totally coloured and submerged in Guru Bhakti. The Sangat devotees recited so many spiritual songs (bhajans) and praise slogans. Everyone including children and women participated in Guru Bhakti with utmost enthusiasm. The sangat devotees did simran of shabad of Shri Guru Ram Rai Ji Maharaj and were told the significance of Guru Mahima. Shri Darbar Sahib premises echoed with the praise slogans of Shri Guru Ram Rai Ji Maharaj and Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj. The sangat devotees danced on the rhythm of musical instrument dhol and also sang spiritual songs (bhajans) of Guru Maharaj Ji.
