Rishikesh 14.Oct 2021: Tehri HPP (1000MW) and Koteshwar HEP (400MW) being operated by THDC India Limited (THDCIL) are ready to provide much needed additional support to National Grid in the wake of suddenly increased power demand due to pickup in economic activities after lifting of COVID restrictions. Thanks to the Govt. of India and Uttarakhand which timely permitted THDCIL to raise Tehri reservoir level to EL 830m on 25th August, 2021 in wider public interest.
It is to mention that THDCIL had planned to generate 193 MU of energy from 16th – 31st Oct’ 2021 but the above permission allowed an additional storage of 2 m height in Tehri dam reservoir helping Tehri HPP and Koteshwar HEP to revise their plan to generate 402 MU which would result in additional energy generation of 209 MU.
The long term vision and foresightedness of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Sh. Pushkar Singh Dhami ji of permitting THDCIL to raise Tehri reservoir level to EL 830m has proved a boon for National Grid in the present scenario. Due to this THDCIL is also in a position to play a major role in strengthening National Grid as well as in fulfilling its commitment of “Generating Power… Transmitting Prosperity…”
