Dehradun: The two-day Spring Festival at Welham Boys’ School celebrated on April 14 &15, 2023 commenced with the inauguration of a Book Fair in the Learning Resource Centre of the School.

A Parent Teacher Meet was organised for parents to analyse their children’s academic progress as well as meet the teachers of their wards. A mesmerising range of music and dance styles featured in this year’s Spring Festival celebrations beginning with Jamuna House’s  version of Petula Clark’s – Down Town. The energy of this performance was in sharp contrast to the melancholic SOS from Cauvery House, a mood that Ganga House sustained with their rendering of Uptown Girl. It was left to Krishna House to give us a lively performance with Tie a Yellow Ribbon, originally recorded by Tony Orlando. The Theme for the Dance Performance this year was “Hollywood Bangers” which was displayed by a wide range of Hip-hop, Jazz, Tap and freestyle by the students.

The school honoured the achievements of the Scholars with a traditional ceremony in which scarves, blazers and gowns were awarded to the academically meritorious students. The Scholar’s Scarf and a Gown were awarded to the Academic Captain 2023-24 Sankalp Gupta for his stellar performance in scholastic and co-scholastic activities.  Prajwal Prasad was presented with the Gold Crest and a Scholar’s Gown for his outstanding academic excellence for 8 consecutive years. Inter-House Ramanujan Trophy for Excellence in Mathematics was awarded to Cauvery House. The Trophy for Academic excellence was  also won by Cauvery House. Arthur Hughes Trophy for Inter House Debates was won by Jamuna House.

The celebrations concluded with the screening of the Welham Newz which over the years has become a narrative of life at Welham.

“While we praise the achievements of these few students unstintingly,” said Ms Kain, the Principal of Welham Boys’ School, “the strength of the school is best expressed in the wide range of students who achieve the highest standards in so many different fields.”

The School’s motto ‘From Strength to Strength’ continues to be the guiding force behind all the endeavours at Welham Boys’ School.
