Mussoorie: 12 th November 2022: Oak Grove School (Northern Railway) organized debate competition on the topic – “Increased digitalization enhances quality of life but Erodes Privacy” In the semi final of the English and Hindi debates, twelve students participated in both the debates two each from Sainik School,Tilaiya, Kendriya Vidyalaya ONGC ,Dehradun and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Bageshwar, Uttarakhand ,BSF School, Jammutavi, DAV Public School ,Naraingarh and NER Boys’ Inter College ,Gorakhpur ,Rly Hr Sec School ,NO-2 Bilaspur Schools, under the Ministry of Railways.
Total 12 participants from Six organizations participated in both the debates and out of twelve six participants qualified for the grand finale of the debates to be held at Hotel Madhuban,Rajpur Road, Dehradun on Sunday, 13 th November 2022. The Chief Guest of the semi final was Abhishek Kesarwani, Principal, Oak Grove School, Jharipani, Mussoorie.
The students qualified for English debates are Cadet Ravi Ranjan , Sainik School ,Tailiya, Parthiv Issar, Kendriya Vidyalaya, ONGC ,Dehradun and Tanmai Mishra, N.E Rly School ,Gorakhpur. Cadet Akhilesh Bernwal, Sainik School,Tailiya,Barsha Rani, Railway Higher Secondary School No-2 Bilaspur and Diya of
Kendriya Vidyalaya,ONGC ,Dehradun were selected for the final round in Hindi debate .
Speaking on the occasion Abhishek Kesarwani, Principal Oak Grove School said that National Debate for schools was held at
our school premises on 12 th November, 2022. The aim of the competition was to hone public speaking skills of the students and to teach them to be articulate while expressing their thoughts and opinions.
The speakers of the event spoke eloquently on the topic
“Increased digitalization enhances quality of life but Erodes Privacy”. Mr. Kesarwani further added that the highlight of the event was the question answer round, as a volley of questions were answered confidently by both the sides,inviting counter questions which were not allowed.The session was a kaleidoscope of opinions, thoughts, ideas and perspectives that definitely enhanced the knowledge and understanding of the topic among students.
R.K Nagpal, Officiating Head Master, Oak Grove Boys’ School said that all the participating students were with equal calibre and potential but in the end, some stood out shining brighter than the others. There were so many notable points presented by each participant but the points presented by the winning participants were the game-changer.
Nagpal further added that debate is one of the academic activities that gives students creative room to express what they feel. The length and breadth of knowledge that they gain through this is simply unparalleled. Semi-final round of the debate was judged by a panel of judges comprising Meghna Mcfarland, Shweta Agarwal, Daniel Francis Moris, Gayatri Juneja, Navin Singh and Nandini Singh. The National Debate for School was also witnessed by Komal Kesarwani, Vinay Kumar, Head Master, Oak Grove Junior School, Kusum Kamboj, Head Mistress, Oak Grove Senior Girls’ School, Dr. Atul Kumar Saxena,Anupam Singh,Vipul Rawat, S.K Raza ,R.N Yadav, Santosh Kumar, Pranil Nandehwar ,Ashutosh Kumar, Priyanka Ranjan and other members of the school.
