CII Uttarakhand organised workshop on Driving MSME Cluster Climate Action at Haridwar

Haridwar: CII Uttarakhand conducted a workshop on Driving MSME Cluster Climate Action at Haridwar with an objective to empower participants from MSME to understand and tackle multiple climate threats and risks in Haridwar Cluster.

CII Climate Action Charter (CCAC) aims to help businesses develop long-term actions to build resilience, facilitate businesses to lead their sectoral climate actions and showcase best practices for addressing climate risks. The charter has been designed to provide an impetus for collective action by Indian businesses to drive solutions for a just, equitable and sustainable transition.

Mr Bipen Gupta, Chairman, CII Uttarakhand State Council & Director, G B Springs while delivering his welcome remarks said decoupling economic growth by businesses is an imperative to ensure business sustainability and safeguard business and society against risks from climate change and sustainability issues and CII’s Climate Action Charter is a step in the right direction to help meet India’s commitment towards sustainable development and creating a unified platform for business, industry, and government.

The biggest impact we can make is by working with our stakeholders to develop sustainable innovations that would address the world’s climate related challenges at large said Mr Yashpal Sardana, Plant Head, Hero MotoCorp Ltd, Haridwar while sharing Hero MotoCorp’s initiatives towards climate change. He stressed that the company envisages its value chain partners not only implement the necessary guidelines and procedures within their own operations, but they also monitor their supply chains to ensure commitment to ESG and Quality parameters. Mr Sardana urged participating suppliers to join this initiative for better tomorrow.

Ms Diksha Gairola, Counsellor, CII – ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development apprised about the CII’s climate action charter which focusses on CHG emission reduction, transition in value chain, building resilience and mobilising green finance.

Mr Anoop Nautiyal, Founder, SDC Foundation during his presentation gave insights of the project which included gap analysis, identifying opportunity for the improvement, setting of climates oriented and sustainability driven vision and mission statements for MSMEs and action Plan to implement set Objectives & KPI’s.

The programme was well attended by the around 60 participants & local associations from Haridwar.
