Dehradun: In order to celebrate the “Azadi ka Amrit Mohotsav” of 75 years of independence, the Cancer Surgery Department at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital organized an E- poster presentation. The chairman of the Hospital, Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj expressed his pleasure and congratulated the doctors and the nursing staff.
The theme of the Poster presentation was – “Cancer se Azadi”. Nursing and paramedical staff presented the posters highlighting the various aspects of cancer prevention and control. Ms. Monika Thapa (staff nurse) won the first prize while Ms. ShrishtiTampta (Nursing student) and Ms. Sonal (staff nurse) won the second and third prizes respectively. Monika highlighted how nurses can contribute to the care of cancer patients. Mr. Deepak Gupta (Nursing superintendent) judged the posters. Dr. Ajeet Tiwari and Dr. Pallvi Kaul (cancer surgeons) organized the program successfully.
Oncology Department Co-ordinator Mr. Santosh, Cancer Deptt. PRO Mr. Manvender and deputy Senior PRO Mr. Hari Shankar, contributed significantly to the success of the programme. Dr Pankaj Garg, Head of Cancer Surgery Department of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, speaking over the occasion, informed that cancer has become the leading cause of death in India and abroad. He reiterated that, as we fought collectively for our freedom, we will have to work with unity and comprehensively to contain the cancer epidemic.
