Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital carried out awareness rally

Dehradun: A Public Awareness Rally was organized by eth Eye Donation Centre of Shri Mahant Indiresh
Hospital to commemorate the occasion of National Eye Donation Fortnight (25th August to 8th September). In the Eye Donation Awareness Rally, doctors, faculty members, medical students and staff members of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital which is the teaching hospital of Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences which is run under Shri Guru Ram Rai University.

In the rally, more than 100 doctors, faculty members, medical students and staff members moved around on the roads with the motivating message of Eye Donation written on the banners and placards. On Sunday, the Eye Donation Awareness rally was initiated by being shown a green flag at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital by the Vice Principal, Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences, Dr. Lalit Kumar Varshney. Speaking over the occasion, HOD, Deptt. of Eye & In charge, Eye Donation Centre of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Dr. Tarannum Shakeel requested the general public to donate their eyes after their death so that blind people can see this beautiful world.

She urged the people to be away from so many misconceptions in the society regarding Eye Donation. She said that it’s the greatest charity that after death, someone’s eyes can make blind people to see. The rally moved from Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital to Lal Pul, then to Matawala Bagh and came back through the same route and concluded at the hospital. The occasion was also marked by the auspicious presence of Dr. Tariq Masood, Dr. Nidhi Jian, Dr. M.A. Beg, Dr. Ashish Kakkar, Dr. Vatsala Vats, Dr. Rana Usmani, Deputy Senior Public Relations Officer Sachin Sharma, and founder of Jagatbandhu Sewa Trust, Sumit Prajapati.
