Dehradun: For increase cancer awareness, the cancer surgery department at Shri Mahant Inderesh Hospital will be organizing a free cancer screening/consultation camp on 4th February 2022, Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.at Cancer Deptt., Third Floor, North Block. Keeping his promise and commitment to providing quality cancer care to all patients at reasonable rates, the Chairman of the hospital, Shri Mahant Devendra DasJi Maharaj, has extended this free of charge cancer screening/oncology consultation service on 4th February, the day which is celebrated as World Cancer Day. Dr. Pankaj Garg, Head of the cancer surgery department, stated that any patient can come to seek free of charge cancer screening or a second opinion. He informed that the department will also be running a campaign to bust the widely spread cancer myths in society.
These cancer myths not affect the cancer treatment but also affect the psychological and emotional status of the cancer patients. Dr. Pankaj shared his experience that even the well-literate people often ask if cancer can spread from one person to another by touch or by sharing clothes or utensils. These untrue thoughts can further shatter a cancer patient who is already going through the physical and psychological trauma of having cancer.
