Dehradun: SelaQui International School, Dehradun, celebrated its 22nd Founder’s Day with great gusto and vigour. The celebration began in the morning with the declaration of the Annual Athletics Meet, open by the Chief Guest, former Indian hockey player Dilip Tirkey after the marching contingents of the four Houses of the school displayed a disciplined March Past on the tunes of the marching band. It was followed by lighting the torch and taking the oath of fair play.
The spirit of the competition was visible in all racing events like 100mts, 200mts, and Relay, where students bagged medals for their Houses. Other challenging events like the PT display, Equestrian Show and Tug-of-War kept the audience at its edge. The afternoon was dedicated to the exhibition organised by the departments of Science, Humanities and Art and Craft of the school, which was open to parents and students. It showcased the skills of students in exploring and discovering the myriad facets of the selected topics.
The highlight of the exhibition was an auction of paintings prepared by students as the buyers were eager to bid the highest for the magnificent artworks of students. The events planned for the cultural evening included Songs, Dance, Drama, Speeches, the release of the Annual School Magazine ‘The Yearbook’ and Prize Giving. The immaculate Musical rendition by the Indian and Western Choirs mesmerised the audience and earned admiration.
The vibrant dances depicting victory over COVID and the Hindi play, ‘Vriksh,’ enthused the gathering. Awards were announced for the achievements of students and Boarding Houses in various verticals of school life. The Chief Guest, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Sh. Pushkar Singh Dhami Ji and the Chairman, Mr Om Pathak, addressed the gathering. The Headmaster, Mr Rashid Sharfuddin, in his welcome address, proudly announced the achievements of the SeQuins in all spheres of school life. He mentioned that the school is setting newer academic benchmarks by producing the best board results for the last five years, making the school the No.1 ranked coeducational school in the state, which was greeted by the audience.
Looking back at its inception, Chairman Mr Om Pathak expressed a deep sense of satisfaction at the achievements of the SeQuins, who are growing from strength to strength in various walks of life. The cultural evening of Founders was attended by many other dignitaries, the Board of Governors of the school, Parents, Students and faculty members. The Head Girl of 2022-2023 delivered an emotional speech, and Head Boy proposed a vote of thanks. The National Anthem brought this wonderful evening to a close.
