Dehradun: A Two Day Continuing Medical Education (C.M.E.) programme Cum Workshop is being organized at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital. In this C.M.E. organized on Radio Frequency Ablation (R.F.A.) technique, specialists shared experiences and dissipated knowledge on the ultra modern techniques of treatment. In the C.M.E. programme Cum Workshop, specialists from Delhi, Lucknow and AIIMS, Rishikesh shared experiences and dissipated knowledge. During the C.M.E. programme Cum Workshop, specialists also gave live demonstration on patients for Pain Management. On the first day of the C.M.E. programme Cum Workshop, the programme was jointly inaugurated by Vice Principal, Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences, Dr. Utkarsh Sharma, Vice Principal, Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences, Dr. Punet Ohri, Vice Principal, Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences, Dr. Lalit Kumar Varshney, HOD, Deptt. of Anaesthesia, Dr. Robina Makker, HOD, Deptt. of Pathology, Dr. Seema Acharya and HOD, Deptt. of Microbiology, Dr. Sulekha Nautiyal. HOD, Deptt. of Anaesthesia, Dr. Robina Makker said that the initiation of Pain and Palliative Care Department at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital has given a big relief to the pain suffering patients.

She said that in future also, patients from Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and nearby states will be relieved of pain by the Pain and Palliative Care Deptt. of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital. Previously, the patients had to rush to metro cities for treatment and surgery was the only alternative. Now under one roof of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, the availability of complete treatment has come as a big relief for the patients. She also informed that the Deptt. of Anaesthesia of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital is running one year P.D.C.C. (Post Doctorate Certificate Course) for medical students. In near future, D.M. course in Pain and Palliative Care will also be started. Secretary of Indian Society for Study of Pain (I.S.S.P.), Dr. Pankaj Surange threw light over Radio Frequency. Dr. Anurag Agarwal, Professor, Anaesthesia and Pain Deptt., Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Lucknow gave presentation on treatment of pain in the back by R.F.A. technique.

Dr. Praveen Talwar, Associate Professor, Anaesthesia and Pain Deptt., All Indian Institute of Medical & Health Sciences (A.I.I.M.S.), Rishikesh explained the causes and modern techniques of treatment of the pain in the face (trigeminal neuralgia). Dr. Azka Zuberi, Associate Professor, Muzzaffarnagar Medical College, provided information about chronic pain management. In the second session of the C.M.E. programme Cum Workshop in the afternoon, treatment of pains of knee, face and back was done at the operation theatre of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital. The young medical students and doctors saw the live telecast from operation theatre while sitting in the auditorium and enhanced their knowledge. The specialists explained them that how the use of Radio Frequency Ablation (R.F.A.) technique is done in the treatment of the patients.

The OPD and Operation theatre of Pain and Palliative Deptt. are working since long just like a boon for the patients of Uttarakhand and nearby areas. In this deptt., Dr. Neha Kathor, Dr. Anoop Singh Negi, Dr. Priyanka Mishra, Dr. Mohit Kumar and Dr. Gaurav Pathak are serving the patients of Pain and Palliative Care. These all doctors also delivered their lectures. All the faculty and post graduate students of Deptt. of Aanaesthesia have actively contributed to make this C.M.E. programme Cum Workshop successful. Significant roles were also played by American Avonos Company and its officials, Aman Sharma and Rajender Khanduri. They said that it’s for the first time that this type of a C.M.E. programme Cum Workshop is being organized in the state of Uttarakhand.
