Mussoorie: 27 th October 2022:- Oak Grove School organized its 133 rd Annual Athletics Meet, today. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Shri Satish Kumar Pandey, Principal Chief Engineer, Northern Railway, Member, Board of Governors /OGS and President, Sports Association, Northern Railway inaugurated the function by unfurling the school flag in the valley ground and took the salute of the march past. Mr. Ajay Nandan, Divisional Railway Manager, Northern Railway, Moradabad division was the Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest said that along with education, sports are also important as they help in developing the overall personality of the students.
He said that while playing any game, sportsmanship spirit should be kept in mind. Shri Pandey further said that sports have different place in a student’s life as they develop self-confidence and physical abilities. The Chief Guest congratulated the students on excelling in the fields of academics and sports at the regional and national levels. He further added that Northern Railway was keen on supporting the school to make it a premier institution in the country with all modern amenities and infrastructure.
The Annual Athletics meet was inaugurated, by running on the ground with Olympic torch by two outstanding sportspersons of the school, Master Arun Kumar and Swati Kumari along with Lt. Col. Sunny Bakshi, an ex- Oakgrovian. The meet started with a well-coordinated March Past by the students of the three wings of the school. The School Captains, Aakarshan Roy and Raksha Kumari led the march past proudly by holding the school flag. Ritesh Kumar and Akansha Singh of Class-XII won the Gold medal in hurdle race. In Javelin through Anjali Yadav bagged Gold, Riya Kumari and Aakiriti won the silver and bronze medals respectively, In Junior School the most prestigious trophy Cock Shield was won by Nalanda House while in Boys’ and Girls section it was won by Tagore and Meerabai Houses respectively.
In 1600-meter race Gulshan won the Gold medal, Arun Kumar and Mohd. Bilal won the Silver and Bronze medals respectively. In discuss throw, Gold, Silver and Bronze medals were won by Sneha, Shinaya and Rajshri. Mr. Abhishek Kesarwani, Principal, Oak Grove School thanked the Chief Guest and other dignitaries present in the school Valley. He appreciated the spirit of the sportsmanship exhibited by the students and said that sports and academics go side by side in the development of a student’s personality and inspired the youngsters to work hard both in academics and sports and further stated that winning and losing are part of the game
and everyone should jointly celebrate the victory of sports.
Mr. Kesarwani further added that this year near about hundred Athletes participated in the annual sports day to make the event successful. The Annual Athletics meet was witnessed by Mrs. Komal Kesarwani, Lt. Col. (Dr.) Deepak Saxena, Chief Consultant (Health), Oak Grove SchoolHealth Unit, Sachin Goel, Senior DEE/G & Piyush Pathak, Senior DEN-1,Moradabad Division Vinay Kumar, Head Master, Junior School, R.K Nagpal, Head Master, Boys’ School, Kusum Kamboj, Head Mistress, Girls’ School, Dr. Atul Kumar Saxena, Vipul Rawat, Anupam Singh, S.K Raza, Archana Shankar, Dhairya Nagpal, Preeti Lakra, G.D Raturi, Salim Ali, Sadik Ahmad, Pramod Dhama, Shadab Alam, Pramod Kumar and all other faculty members of the School.
