Dehradun: This year the historical Shri Jhande Ji Mela (Fair) will begin from 12 th March 2023 (Sunday). On Saturday 04 th March 2023, a meeting was organized for the preparation of fair and Raising of Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole). It’s significant to mention that Sajjadanashin (Spiritual superior of the shrine) of Shri Darbar Sahib, Shri Mahant Devendra Dass Ji Maharaj released necessary directions for the preparations of Shri Jhande Ji Mela and Raising of Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole). The delegation of senior administrative and police officials including City Magistrate Kusum Chauhan, City Kotwal, Dehradun, Vidya Bhushan Negi, Senior Sub Inspector City Kotwali, Pramod Shah, Khurbura Police Chowki Incharge Pankaj Kumar discussed in detail all the significant
points for the successful organizing of Shri Jhande Ji Mela with Shri Jhande Ji Mela Organizing Committee.
Just like previous years, this year again, the historical Shri Jhande Ji Mela will be organized in which magnificent and divine manner, Doon’s senior administrative and police officials had a formal meeting with the office bearers of Shri Jhande Ji Mela Organizing Committee. Manager of Shri Jhande Ji Mela Organizing Committee, Kailash Chand Juyal explained in detail the traditional background of Shri Jhande Ji Mela and the necessary preparations for this year.
During the meeting, key points like traffic management, parking of vehicles of Sangat devotees, management of CCTV Cameras, management of Police Station inside Mela premises (Mela Thana), management of hospital inside mela premises (Mela Hospital), arrangement of ambulances, arrangement of One Way Entry & Exit into and from Shri Darbar Sahib were discussed. Manager of Shri Jhnade Ji Mela Organizing Committee, K.C. Juyal, assured City Magistrate Kusum chauhan that all the arrangements for the smooth organizing of Shri Jhande Ji Mela will be completed well in time before the mela.
He informed that 50 committees associated with Meal Organizing are working to ensure that all the necessary arrangements can be made for the mela in time. Its worth mentioning that every year on the birthday of Shri Guru Ram Rai Ji Maharaj, Shri Jhande Ji Mela is organized at Dehradun. Shri Guru ram Rai Ji Maharaj was born in the year 1646 at Kiratpur (District Hoshiarpur) on the fifth day of Holi on Chiatravadi Panchami. Since then, every year the historical Shri Jhande Ji Mela has been organized every year by the Sangat devotees on the fifth day of Holi (Chiatravadi Panchami). This year, Sansar Singh has been blessed with the divine fortune of making Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole) wear the Darshani Gilaaf. But because he is abroad, his son Blawinder Jit Singh will be completing this procedure on his behalf.
Balvinder Jit Singh informed that his father Snasar Singh and mother Surjeet Kaur has done the booking many years back of making Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole) wear Darshani Gilaaf. Shri Jhande Ji Mela Organizing Committee expressed optimism that year lakhs of Sangat devotees from India and abroad will be arriving to avail the spiritual darshan at Shri jhande Ji Mela. The Committee said that just like every year, this year also, Doonites are enthusiastic to welcome the Sangat devotees and witness this sacred occasion of Raising of
Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole) and Shri Jhande Ji Mela. In today’s meeting Shri Jhande Ji Mela Organizning Committee’s D.P. Jasola, Satish Purohit, Rajender Dhyani, Nand Singh Gusain, Anoop Negi, Shailesh Chand and Sachin Sharma also participated.
