Lakhs of Sangats and Devotees flocked in Mahakumbh of Faith

Dehradun. An ocean of devotees flocked in at the ‘Mahakumbh of Faith’ Raising (Aarohan) of Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole) at Shri Darbar Sahib. Lakhs of Sangat devotees and Doonites are standing in front of Shri Jhande ji in its honour. Each and every person is standing to bow down with joint hands in front of Shri Jhande ji (the holy flag pole) and to avail the ‘Darshan’ of Shri Guru Maharaj Ji. There is not even a space left to put a step at Shri Darbar Sahib premises and its nearby areas. As soon as the process of making wear the ‘gilaafs’ to Shri Jhande Ji went on, the enthusiasm of the Sangat devotees and Doonites also reached its peak. As soon as, Shri Jhande ji was made to wear the ‘Darshani Gilaaf’, the whole atmosphere echoed with the praise slogans of
Shri Guru Maharaj ji.

On Tuesday evening at 3:22 pm as soon as Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole) was raised under the mentorship of Sajjadanashin Shri Mahant Devendra Dass ji Maharaj, the whole ‘Dronanagari’ (Dehradun) echoed with the praise slogans of Shri Guru Ram Rai ji Maharaj. The devotees danced enthusiastically over the rhythm of musical instrument ‘dhol’. With this, the historical, sacred and cultural Heritage- Shri Jhande Ji Sahib fair was formally begun. On Tuesday morning, even before the first sun rays struck the earth, Shri Darbar Sahib and nearby areas got packed tightly with the Sangat devotees and Doonites. Sangat devotees and Doonites gathered to bring down the old Shri Jhande ji (the holy flag pole).

It’s a rare and blessed sight to see Shri Jhande Ji brought down and then rose. In order to earn this noble deed, the Sangat devotees from India & abroad as well as Doonites wait the whole year restlessly. At 8 am in the morning, the Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole) was brought down, while the Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole) was offered special prayers at. In the morning only, the Sangat devotees and Doonites got bathed the new Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole) with milk, curd, honey, ‘Gangajal’ and ‘panchgavyon’. After that, the process of making wear the ordinary and ‘shaneel’ gilaafs to the 90 fts. high new Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole) was initiated. It’s worth mentioning that throughout this process, Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole) is never kept or made to touch
the ground. After that, the ‘Darshani Gilaaf’ (the outermost Gilaaf) was put on Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole). While witnessing this blessed, sacred and much awaited ritual, emotions overflowed as tears came out of the eyes of the Sangat devotees and Doonites and rolled down their cheeks. Everyone was restless to touch the ‘Darshani Gilaaf’ and earn the noble deed. At 3:05 p.m., the process of raising of the new Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole) was initiated. Shri Jhande ji (the holy flag pole) was decorated with velvet clothes and ‘sunahre goton’. The Sangat devotees were lifting up the new Shri Jhande ji (the holy flag pole) under the mentorship of Sajjadanashin of Shri Darbar Sahib, Shri Mahant Devendra Dass ji Maharaj with the help of wooden lifters (scissors shaped). At 3:22 p.m., Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole) was raised (aarohan) completely.This blessed occasion was witnessed by Shri Darbar Sahib premises and nearby areas got blessed by this holy sight and echoed with the praise slogans of Shri Guru Maharaj Ji. Right at this time, the much awaited miracle happened which is repeated year after year. This miracle was the coming of a falcon which did ‘parikramma’ (took rounds) of Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole). He said that whoever bows at Shri Jhande ji (the holy flag pole) get wishes fulfilled, that is why, the faith of the devotees is on a constant rise year after year. In his message, he wished that the divine blessings of Shri Guru Ram Rai ji Maharaj should always be showered over the people of India and Uttarakhand. RAISING OF SHRI JHANDE JI (THE HOLY FLAG POLE) TELECASTED LIVE ON LED SCREENS Shri Darbar Sahib management had arranged for two big LED screens to do live telecast of Shri Jhande Ji’s (the holy flag pole’s) raising. The front side of Shri Jhande ji had been fully occupied by the Sangat devotees and Doonites. Due to this, the Sangat devotees and Doonites present in the other part of Shri Darbar Sahib was able to see the live telecast of raising of Shri Jhande Ji on the LED screen. SANGAT DEVOTEES FROM FOREIGN COUNTRIES ALSO REACHED TO WITNESS THE OCCASION AT SHRI DARBAR SAHIB Sangat devotees have reached from all over the world to participate in Shri Jhande ji raising and fair. The Sangat devotees have come from western U.P., Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh as well as from foreign countries to witness this holy occasion. In the Shri Darbar Sahib premises, the Sangat devotees kept on singing ‘bhajans’ (holy songs) and ‘kirtan’ concerned with ‘Guru Mahima’ (miracles of Shri Guru Maharaj ji). The devotees also danced enthusiastically over the rhythm of the musical instrument ‘dhol’. DEVOTEES TAKE A DIP AT THE HOLY POND The Sangat devotees and Doonites also took a dip at the holy pond located in the premises of Shri Darbar Sahib. The devotees had been taking bath in this holy pond since the early morning only. In the afternoon, when thousands of devotees surrounded the holy pond from all the sides, the sight was very much attractive. Even the children devotees took bath in the holy pond and played in the water.
