DEHRADUN: An Inter-School Folk Dance Competition was organised by ‘The Kasiga School’ on the last Friday, A total of nine Schools participated in the event. They were Ecole Globale, Welham Girls High School, Mussoorie International School, The Asian School, The Indian Public School to name a few. The students of St. Jude’s School came first. A troupe of 14 dancers from St. Jude’s School set the stage on fire with their highly energetic performance ‘Jogwa’ popularly known as the ‘Jaagar’ too. Jaagar is a popular Marathi worship folk dance practice where the devotes of Goddess Yelamma get married to the goddess herself, leaving all worldly desires.
The Chief Guest, Kasiga School, Chairman, Ramesh Batta and Mrs Poonam Batta, praised the performance of our young Thaddeusians and gave them a standing ovation. The audience were agog seeing the innovative and enthusiastic performance of our young dancers. The judges Meetu Bansal and Sadhna Vijay complimented the mesmerizing performance of St. Jude’s School. The winners of the ‘Folk Vibes’ 2022 were St. Jude’s School. Welham Girls High School came second and Kasiga School came third The dance was choreographed by Shama Kukreja. The Principal, St. Jude’s School V. R. Gardner and Ms. Michelle Gardner, Vice Principal, St. Jude’s School complimented the dancers and Shama Kukreja on the spectacular performance. It takes tremendous effort, hardwork and determination to win a contest. Well Done.
In another dance event called Feet O’Inspiration (an Inter School Duet Dance Competition) organised by Shri Ram Centennial School on the 29th of April our School students performed very well and won the second and third prizes in various categories. A number of renowned Schools like Welham Girls High School, Doon International School, Mussoorie International School and Him Jyoti School to name a few participated in the event. The Chief Guest Mr. Anil Garg, Chairman Shri Ram Centennial School applauded the efforts of the young dancers from all the Schools. The judges were Mr. Harshit Gupta, Mrs. Chetna Dobhal and Mrs. Sadhana Negi.
