Dehradun: To commemorate “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, the Income Department, Dehradun organised ‘Cyclothon’ on the 8th of December 2021 in which more than 50 cyclists of the City, both men and women, under three different age groups of 16 to 30 years, 31 to 50 years and 51 years and above, participated. The Cyclothon was flagged off by Shishir Jha, IRS, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (UP West & Uttrakhand). Vipin Chandra, IRS, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax and Suneel Verma, IRS, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Dehradun, along with other senior officers of the Department, graced the occasion.
Among the sports celebrities present on the occasion was Arun Kumnar Sud, former Captain of Indian Volleyball Team who was also honoured by the IT Department for his contribution to sports in India.The first three cyclists under each category were felicitated with trophies by Chief Guest Shishir Jha. In the senior most age category of 51 years & above (male), Sh. Chandra Gupta, Jitendra Gupta & Rakesh Gulati were awarded the first, second & third position respectively.
Similary, in the category of 31 to 50 (female), the winner was Manju Rani. Similarly, the first, second and third position was held by Vishal Sharma,Johny Negi & Krishanvendra Singh Yadav in the age group of 31-50(male). In the category of 16-30(female), the winners were Himanshi(first prize), Kajal Panwar(second prize) & Tanvi Verma(third prize). In the category of 16-30(male), the winners were Ranjan Kumar Alok(first prize), Saurabh Negi(second prize), Ankit Kumar(third prize).
