ICFRE celebrated Van Mahotsav

Dehradun: As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav {AKAM} and Mission LiFE programme, Extension Division, ICFRE-Forest Research Institute, Dehradun (FRI) in coordination with Silviculture and Forest Management Division of the Institute organized the celebration of Van Mahotsav on 28 th July, 2023 in the campus of Forest Research Institute, Dehradun.

The programme was attended by Shri Arun Singh Rawat, IFS, Director General, Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Dehradun as the Chief Guest of the programme and Dr. Renu Singh, IFS, Director, FRI, Dehradun along Deputy Director General’s ICFRE, Shri R.K. Dogra, Ms. Kanchan Devi, Dr. Sudhir Kumar, Heads of Division of FRI, Officers, Scientists of FRI & ICFRE and Ph.D scholars of FRIDU were also participated in the event. Mr. Mahaling, IFS Head, Extension Division, FRI welcomed all participants and invited the Director for welcome address on this occasion. Shri A. S. Rawat spoken about the importance of Van Mahotsav and highlighted the significant innovations in the field of forestry of the institute. He spoke about the importance of the trees and also said that Van Mahotsava programme could be help in creating awareness amongst people about the protection of environment, conservation of forest and other related aspects.

Director FRI also expressed the importance of tree planting and the role of individuals in environmental protection, this event aimed to empower people with the knowledge and motivation to make a positive impact on their surroundings by planting indigenous trees. Director General, ICFRE initiated the celebration by planting a Rudraksh sapling followed by Director, FRI who planted a Sita Ashok sapling. All the participants also planted saplings of various species on the occasion. Saplings of Elaeocarpus ganitrus, Saraca asoca, Terminalia bellirica, Phylanthus emblica, and Putranjiva roxburghii etc. were planted in the campus of FRI by officers, staff members and students of FRI, Dehradun.
