Nowadays girls have PCOS i.e. from a very young age. It is a matter of concern that many years ago this disease was common only in women above 30, but today the opposite is being seen. According to doctors, this disorder has doubled in the last 10 to 15 years.
Dr. Sujata Sanjay told that when there is imbalance in sex hormones. The slightest change in hormones has an immediate effect on the menstrual cycle. If this problem persists, then not only does it affect the ovaries and fertility, but it also takes the form of cancer in the future. Actually, reproductive hormones are made in the bodies of both women and men. Endogenous hormones are also produced in the body of men, but the ovaries of women with PCOS produce more hormones than normal.
This situation proves to be really fatal. These cysts are small sac-like formations, which are filled with fluid, these cysts keep collecting in the ovary and their size also increases gradually. This condition is called polycystic ovarian syndrome. And this problem becomes such, due to which women are not able to conceive. It is a disease occurring in the reproductive stage in women and in this unwanted excess hair along with weight is seen on the face, breast, lower abdomen, back, arms & legs. In affected patients, with the help of ultrasound, the size of the ovary and its changes and the size and number of cysts can be seen.
Apart from this, the disease can be detected if the hormone level is high by blood test. These women are more prone to diseases like heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and endometrial cancer. The exact cause of PCOS is not known, but it is believed to be both hereditary and lifestyle related. It may be that Ovarian Cancer is becoming a victim of stress due to changing lifestyle and hectic life. Among them, working women have even higher stress levels.
Dr. Sujata Sanjay also told that due to changing lifestyle, teenagers are struggling more with this problem. He said that out of every 10 patients, 6 adolescent girls are affected by it. Deteriorating lifestyle, unbalanced eating habits especially junk food like pizza, burger and other fried food and not exercising are causing problems related to hormones in teenage girls. Normally one cyst is formed during menstruation, whereas many cysts are formed in girls affected by this disease. Due to which there is more bleeding during menstruation and the timing of menstruation also becomes uncertain and at such time the pain increases.
Dr. Sujata Sanjay said that girls should take special care of their food and drink. Consumption of non-greasy and junk food should be reduced. Green vegetables and fruits should be eaten regularly. Teenagers should avoid cash dieting, late night parties, dicking and smoking. This problem can also be overcome through healthy eating and regular exercise. Apart from this, once a year, do a diabetes or glucose challenge test. If you think that you are likely to have PCOS, you should immediately consult a trained gynaecologist. It is not an incurable disease.
