Dehradun. The historical & sacred Shri Jhande Ji Mela (Fair) will begin this year on ‘Pancham Tithi’ 22 nd March, Tuesday. Sajjadanashin of Shri Drabar Sahib Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj supervised the various preparations for the raising of Shri Jhande Ji (the holy flag pole) and the Mela (Fair). A delegation of senior administrative officials of Dehradun district that included City Magistrate Kusum Chauhan, S.P. Traffic Akshay Pratap Konde, S.P. City Sarita Dobhal, C.O. City Juhi Manral reached Shri Darbar Sahib on Saturday. In this context, a meeting was organized between Dehradun’s administrative officials and Organizing Committee of Shri Jhande Ji Mela (Fair).
Consensus was made between Dehradun’s administrative officials and office holders of Shri Jhande Ji Mela (Fair) Committee on successful organizing of celebrations to be done during Shri Jhande Ji Mela (Fair). Both the parties agreed to work in close proximity and co-ordination with each other as a team. Manager of Shri Jhande Ji Mela (Fair) K.C. Juyal informed all the necessary preparations that have been made for the smooth organizing of the various phases of the mela (fair). During the meeting between the senior administrative officials of Dehradun and office holders of Mela (Fair) organizing Committee discussed the significant points of traffic management, parking of vehicles of ‘Sangat’ devotees, arrangement of CCTV cameras, arrangement of police station at the mela (fair) premises, running of Mela (Fair) Hospital, arrangement of ambulance, one way arrangement of entry and exit into Shri Darbar Sahib premises during Shri Jhande Ji Mela (Fair). Manager of Mela (Fair) Management Committee K.C. Juyal assured City Magistrate Kusum that all the arrangements required for the smooth organizing of Shri Jhande Ji Mela (Fair) will be done in time. 50 Committees have been made which are looking after making all the arrangements.
It’s worth mentioning that every year Shri Jhande Ji Mela (Fair) is organized at Shri Darbar Sahib on the birthday of Shri Guru Ram Rai Ji Maharaj. Shri Guru Ram Rai Ji Maharaj was born on at Kiratpur, District Hoshiarpur, Punjab in the year 1646 on the fifth day after Holi on ‘Chaitravadi Panchmi’. Since then, every year, ‘Sangat’ devotees celebrate this sacred occasion on the fifth day after Holi (‘Chaitravadi Panchmi’) by organizing Shri Jhande Ji Mela (fair) at Dehradun. This year, Baljinder Singh Saini son of Shri Jasbeer Singh Saini, resident of R-Z-27, Ravi Nagar Extension, New Delhi has been blessed with the fortune of putting on the sacred ‘Darshani Gilaaf’. Shri Jhande Ji Mela (Fair) Organizing Committee expressed optimism that this year ‘Sangat’ devotees in lakhs of numbers from India and abroad will be reaching to be blessed by becoming a part of Shri Jhande Ji Mela (Fair). Mela (Fair) Organizing Committee and Doonites are filled with unmatched enthusiasm to welcome and serve the ‘Sangat’ devotees. The meeting was also marked by the auspicious presence of Shri Jhande Ji Mela (Fair) Organizing Committee members Vijay Gulati, D.P. Jasola, Bhupender Raturi, Satish Purohit, Rajender Dhyani, Anil Das, Som Prakash Sharma, Shailesh Kailkhura, etc.
