Dehradun: Guru Purnima Parva festival was celebrated at Shri Darbar Sahib, Dehradun with utmost faith. The
sangat devotees bowed down at Shri Darbar Sahib and were showered upon divine blessings by Shri Darbar Sahib’s Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj. Marking the occasion of Guru Purnima Maha Parva festival, Shri Darbar Sahib’s Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj congratulated the people of Uttarakhand and India.
As the representative of Uttarakhand Govt., Dehradun’s Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama took part in the festivity of guru Purnima programme and offered ardas (spiritual prayer) at Shri Darbar Sahib. Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama also gifted the book written on the social life of Prime Minister Narender Modi.
On Wednesday, at the occasion of Guru Purnima Parva, special prayers were offered at Shri Darbar Sahiband
langar (holy food) and prasad were distributed to the Sangat devotees. The arrival of devotees started from early in the morning at Shri Darbar Sahib on Wednesday.
Sangat devotees in thousands of numbers reached Shri Darbar Sahib from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and other parts of the country to ensure their presence at the sacred occasion. Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj offered special prayers in the morning at Shri Jhanda Sahib (the holy flag pole) and Shri Darbar Sahib.
After that the progarmme of divine darshan and praying for wishes to come true started. Shri Maharaj Ji gave his holy darshan and showered his divine blessings over the devotees. Addressing the devotees over the occasion, Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj said that Guru and Mother are always complete in their divine roles. The mother gives us birth while the Guru teaches us to lead a rightful life that’s why he is called Param Guru.
On this occasion, he remembered his Guru Brahmleen Shri Mahant Indiresh Charan Das Ji Maharaj and offered his obeisance to him. It’s significant to mention that the Central Govt. and State Govt. are celebrating the Maha Parva of Guru Purnima festival as the day to take the blessings and guidance of the Gurus.
In this context, Dehradun’s Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama participated in the Guru Purnima programme of Shri Darbar Sahib as the representative of Uttarakhand Govt. Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama also gifted the book Modi@20 written on the social life of Prime Minister Narender Modi. Today’s day is also celebrated as Aasad Purnima. It is believed that it was today only that Lord Budhha attained enlightenment (gyan) and delivered his very first sermon (updesh) today only.
