Dehradun: S. Kandhari Memorial Hockey Tournament was started in 2004 in fond memory of Mr. S. Kandhari who was the principal of
Welham Boys’ School from 1983 to 2001. Unfortunately, he passed away soon after retiring Mr. Kandhari encouraged all sporting activity and believed that boys should take the responsibility both to help train younger students and officiate games themselves. This year we have Eight team participating: The Doon School, RIMC, Punjab Public School, Nabha, Wynberg Allen Mussoorie, Yadavindra Public School Mohali, Oak Grove School, Mussoorie, Welham Boys’ (Blue) and Welham Boys’ (White).
Last year the trophy was won by Yadavindra Public School (Patiala).The matches will be played on the league cum knock out basis and total number of matches will be 15. The closing ceremony will be on 4 th May 2023 at 4:00 pm. Our best wishes to all the teams. We hope to see the matches being played in the true spirit of sportsmanship. The result of the first day matches were as following in first match Doon School defeated RIMC by 1-0. Arjun Prakash from Doon School remarkably in 36 minute. In second match Welham Boys Blue defeated PPS Nabha by 2-0. Kritin and Kavish from Welhams Boys Blue goaled in 37th minute.
Third match was played between Oak Grove School Musoorie and Welham Boys White but this was draw without any goal. Fourth match was held between Wynberg Allen School Mussoorie defeated YPS Mohali by 4-0. Tejas from Wynberg Allen goaled in 13th minute, Anhas in 24th 34th minute and Joshus goaled in 53rd minute. In fifth match Doon School defeated Welham Boys by 2-0. Arjit Snadhu from Doon School goaled 27th and 60 minute. Lastly sixth match was played between Welham Boys Blue and YPS Mohali where Virat goaled in 28minute, Yash goaled in 51st minute, Kavish goaled in 55th min and Aryan goaled in 59 minute.
