DAHD conducted training of laboratory quality management

Dehradun: A three days training program on ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Laboratory Quality Management Systems & Internal Auditor Training was organised by Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), Govt of India; Department of animal husbandry, Uttarakhand; Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF); and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) under One Health Piot Project in Uttarakhand.

This training was organised in Training Centre of Uttarakhand Veterinary Council, Dehradun during 13-15 December, 2022 in which 18
Veterinary Officers from Animal Husbandry Department, Uttarakhand and College of Veterinary Science, Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT), Pantnagar participated. The training programme was inaugurated by Dr Devendra Sharma,
Joint Director & One Health Nodal Officer of Animal Husbandry Department, Uttarakhand and Dr Neeraj Singhal, Joint Director, Animal Husbandry Department, Uttarakhand.

The objectives of training include developing understanding about ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards and implementation action plan to make the Labs to ready for ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation by NABL and developing internal audit capabilities in the laboratory teams. The training was facilitated by Trainer of TUV Mr Jayant Sridhar Markale who is an expert trainer for Laboratory Accreditation. He explained in detail about general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. The ISO/IEC 17025:2017 is the new international standard used by laboratories in developing their quality and administrative and technical systems that govern their operations.

On the last day, the closing ceremony and valedictory session was organised which was graced by Dr Devendra Sharma, Joint Director, Animal Husbandry, Uttarakhand. He distributed the certificate of participation to the participants and said that this training will certainly raise the standards of veterinary laboratories in Uttarakhand which will not only help the animal owners and farmers but also help in preventing disease outbreak in animals and in achieving one of the outcomes of One Health pilot project of efficient early detection of diseases and information flow for coordinated control response.
