Dehradun: The All India IPSC Girls U-17 Football Subroto Cup Qualifying Tournament, held from 2nd to 6th August 2023, concluded with great success and enthusiasm at SelaQui International School. The tournament featured participation from 11 esteemed schools, showcasing outstanding talent and sportsmanship. The participating schools included Vidya Devi Jindal School (Hisar), Daly College (Indore), Motilal Nehru School of Sports Rai, Birla Balika Vidyalaya (Pilani), The Lawrence School (Sanawar, Himachal Pradesh), Pinegrove School (Dharampur, Himachal Pradesh), Mayo College Girls’ School (Ajmer), Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School (Jodhpur, Raj),
and The Emerald Heights International School (Indore) and the host school.
The tournament witnessed intense matches played on a league cum knockout basis, with seven matches held in the first three days. The top two teams from each group advanced to the semi-finals. In the final match held in the evening, Pinegrove School and Motilal Nehru School of Sports Rai competed fiercely for the championship. The esteemed Chief Guest for the closing ceremony was Col Vikram Kadian Commandant RIMC, Dehradun, who graced the occasion with his presence. The Special Guest for the event was Usman Khan, Secretary Football Association, Uttarakhand.
The Emerging Player of the Tournament title was awarded to Kashvi from Mayo College Girls’ School (Ajmer). Subekcha from Pinegrove School (Dharampur, Himachal Pradesh) wasawarded the Most Valuable Player Award. Deepika claimed the prestigious Golden Gloves award for the best Goal Keeperfrom Motilal Nehru School of Sports Rai. Shri Nidhi B Ganti achieved the coveted Golden Boot Award for the top scorer of the tournament from VidyaDevi Jindal School Hisar.
The Fair Play award for the team went to Vidya Devi Jindal School Hisar for displaying minimum violations and exemplary sportsmanship. In the thrilling match between Pine Grove School and MNSS Rai, the score was 0-0, leading to a penalty shootout with no winner. Finally, Pine Grove School emerged as the victorious team in sudden death, which made MNSS Rai the Runners Up. The All India IPSC Girls U-17 Football Subroto Cup Qualifying Tournament provided a platform for young talents to shine and brought together schools nationwide in the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie.
