CII Northern Region “Green Practices Award for Industries” Concluded Successfully

Dehradun: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised the first edition of Green Practice Awards for Industries in North India. The objective of conducting this competition is to accelerate the green movement and share knowledge amongst the industry in the Region and instil a sense of competition to motivate other industries to implement green practices. The platform not only facilitated companies to improve their environmental performance, but also encouraged adoption of similar approaches, innovative ideas which will lead to environment benefits and profitability of the company.

The assessment was done on various parameters including energy saving, water conservation, environmental projects, utilization of renewable energy resources, waste management & Implementation of ISO 14000, OHSAS 18000 certifications among others.

Mukesh Goyal, Past Chairman, CII Uttarakhand State Council & Deputy Head – Plant Operations, Hero MotoCorp Limited while addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest congratulated the teams for working towards sustainability initiatives. He appreciated some of the international initiatives that have made a big difference in climate change including COP 27, COP26, and the Paris Agreement. Goyal informed that Hero MotoCorp is passionate about sustainability and taking multiple initiatives in this direction

Rakesh Goyal, General Manager- EHS, Hero MotoCorp Limited (Retd), jury for the competition appreciated efforts of CII to provide a platform for industries to demonstrate and share the best practices on environmental sustainability, he further shared it’s a way forward to make the sustainable business growth and recognise them for improving environmental performances.

Kalyan Dey, GreenCo Assessor, & General Manager, Ashok Leyland Limited (Retd) while addressing as jury for the competition shared that sustainability is extremely important area these days considering global warming.

He appreciated companies’ efforts towards sustainability initiatives and urged more companies to come forward for CHG emission initiatives to reach the aspirational target set by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi of Net Zero 2070, clean & green by 2030. Ms Neha Kaul, Associate Counsellor, Confederation of Indian Industry CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development was the third jury member for assessing performance of participating industries. Bajaj Auto Limited, Pantnagarwon the Platinum Award, ITC Ltd Haridwar won the Gold Award, and the silver award was bagged by Nestle India Ltd, Pantnagar

Award for the Best Practices in Water Conservation was received by ITC HaridwarAdobe Systems India Pvt Ltd, Noida won the award in Best Practices in Renewable Energy, Bajaj Auto Limited, Pantnagar bagged the award for best practices in energy conservation and Honeywell Electrical Devices & Systems India Limited, Selaqui won award for best practices in waste management. The program was well attended by over 60 delegates from various companies to get insights on best Green Practices.
