Haridwar, 20 Jan 2023: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Uttarakhand organized a two-day Manufacturing Excellence Learning Mission to World Class Companies on 19 – 20 January 2023 at SIIDCUL, Haridwar. CII industry delegation visited four industries Akums Drugs & Pharmaceutical Limited, Wipro Enterprises Limited, SKF India Limited, and Rockman Industries Ltd that have excelled in the various sectors including Auto components, FMCG and Pharma. The key objective of the mission was to share & learn from the best practices in manufacturing operations of the visited companies that make them leaders in their respective areas of work and to enhance competitiveness.
At Akums Drugs & Pharmaceutical Limited, the delegates were given an overview of the best manufacturing practices. Various cost saving techniques, tools were shared with delegates. Delegates were also apprised, that the Akums has become the icon of Indian pharmaceutical manufacturing industry and currently It is responsible for manufacturing a major chunk of India’s medicine consumption, approx 12 %.
Wipro Enterprises Limited apprised participants about the various area specific programmes undertaken in plant manufacturing processes and cost saving techniques were showcased. During the visit delegates were taken to major shop floor managing its operations though world class processes. Shop floor Kaizens were briefed for enhancing competitiveness.
SKF limited shared that the company provides sustainable ways for the automotive and industrial sectors to achieve breakthroughs in friction reduction, energy efficiency, and equipment longevity and reliability. Delegates were showcased how company focuses on developing and implementing new technology to increase reliability and flexibility, reduce costs and improve environmental performance.
Rockman Industries Ltd shared that the company is an industry leader for Aluminum die casting, machined and painted assemblies. During the shop floor visit company showcased implementation of TPM and TQM and other operational excellence practices. Participants were also demonstrated quality, innovation, and continuous improvement plant is following.
During the visit of delegation to each of these companies, ideas & thoughts were exchanged on how TQM, TPM, Supply Chain Management, Employee Involvement, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizens can help organizations to grow and attain high profitability levels. The companies also shared their CSR and HR initiatives. The Mission delegates greatly appreciated the hospitality and the information shared by these companies.
Delegates from 15 companies across the spectrum like Asahi India Glass Ltd, Brakes India Private Limited, Ginni Filaments Limited, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (BB J&K), Lumax Management Services Pvt Ltd, NRB Bearings, Prince Pipes & Fittings, TCPL Packaging, TRIVENI and ALMIRAH PVT LTD were part of this delegation.
