Dehradun, June 03, 2022: CollegeDekho, India’s largest higher education platform enabling student admissions both in India and abroad, in its media meet and greet session in Dehradun chaired by Ruchir Arora, CEO and Co-Founder, CollegeDekho shared trends around India’s higher education space and discussed some insights around the admissions in Uttarakhand. Ruchir shared that CollegeDekho has listed information of around 300 colleges from Uttarakhand on its platform. and added that since the year 2015, CollegeDekho has helped one lakh students from Uttarakhand make informed career choices with the help of its counselling service.
Quoting a report by the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) that showcased an upward trend of 10.90% in the admissions in Uttarakhand in private and government colleges as compared to 7.85% at the national level in the year 2019- 2020, Ruchir Arora, CEO and Co-Founder, CollegeDekho said, “Uttarakhand has a lot of potential in the higher education space. Colleges and Universities need to digitise and simplify their admission processes so that it’s easier for the local students to find the right opportunities nearby and attract more students from other states. This in turn will increase the talent pool and state revenue of Uttarakhand.”

This could be due to the state having many employment opportunities across its small scale industries.
For outbound migration, States like Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan and Haryana are preferred choices for higher education among locals due to their proximity to Uttarakhand. Over the years Maharashtra has also emerged as a preferred study destination among the students from Uttarakhand for Finance & Commerce and Banking courses due to the vast opportunities Maharashtra provides. Courses like Engineering, Management, IT, Science, Commerce & Banking, Agriculture, Arts & Humanities, Pharmacy and Law are popular with students moving out of Uttarakhand.
