Dehradun. The hard work of HOD of Ear-Nose-Throat Deptt. of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital Dr. Tripti Mamgain has brought flying colours. She has conducted a successful Cochlear Implant Surgery via ‘Veria’ technique of a 31 years old female patient. After the surgery, the woman is able to hear in a better manner and leading a normal life. There are so many cases of successful Cochlear Implant surgeries registered in Uttarakhand but for the very time, an adult has been operated successfully for Cochlear Implant in Uttarakhand. For this outstanding achievement, the Chairman of Shri Mahant Indiresh hospital has congratulated and showered his divine blessings over the hospital’s ENT Deptt. and its HOD, Dr. Tripti Mamgain. 31 years old Ms. Amrita, a resident of Dehradun, had met with an accident which resulted in deficiency in hearing and eventually she lost all her hearing capability. Before the
accident, she was able to hear in a normal manner.
But due to this accident, her problem increased and reached the stage of her becoming deaf. In medical science, this type of a case is referred to as ‘Post Lingual Deafness’. In the surgery which lasted for one and a half hours, the Cochlear Implant of the woman was done. After the surgery, as much as 98% of the hearing capacity of the woman has come back. At Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, this surgery was conducted by the ‘Veria’ technique. It’s significant to mention that ‘Veria’ technique is the advanced technique of Cochlear Implant. It’s
worth mentioning that in Uttarakhand state, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital is the only hospital in which this technique is being implemented. For the surgery, the woman was provided economic help from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. After the successful surgery, the female patient has expressed thanks and gratitude towards Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami as well as the doctors and staff of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital.
