Dehradun:The Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) is an autonomous Council under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF & CC), Government of India. The Hon’ble Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change is the President of ICFRE society and the Director General is its Chief Executive. The General Body is the supreme authority of the ICFRE, headed by the Hon’ble Union Minister, Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India.
Its members consist of serving and retried Officers from various state governments, educational institutes, and scientific organizations. The Society reviews in its meeting once a year the progress and performance of the constituent units of the society and give such policy directions as it may deem fit to the Board of Governors and the units and the Constituent units of the Society. An Annual Report on the working of the Society and all work undertaken by its constituent units during the year prepared by the Board of Governors for information of the members of the Society and together with Auditor’s report thereon and audited accounts of the Society is placed before Society at its Annual General Meeting.
After adoption of the Report by the Society, the Member Secretary would forward the Report to the Govt. of India for laying it on the Tables of the Houses of Parliament. Accordingly, 28 th Annual General Meeting of ICFRE was held on 28.04.2022 at FRI board room. The meeting was presided over by Shri Bhupendra Yadav, Hon’ble Minister, Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India who is also the President of ICFRE Society. Shri Bhupendra Yadav and other dignitaries were welcomed by Shri Arun Singh Rawat, Director General, ICFRE and Member Secretary of the ICFRE Society.
This was followed by address of Sh. C.P.Goyal,IFS, DGF&SS, MoEF&CC. Sh. Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Hon’ble Minister of State MoEF&CC also addressed the gathering. The Hon’ble Minister Sh. Bhupender Yadav then addressed the gathering. This was followed by a presentation on salient initiatives and achievements of ICFRE by Sh. A.S. Rawat, DG,ICFRE. As per the agenda, the minutes of the 27 th AGM were confirmed by the house. The Annual Report of ICFRE for the year 2020-21 was presented along with Annual Audited Account of the year in the AGM.
The Annual Report for the year 2020-21 is a brief account of research, education and extension activities performed in various sectors of forestry, environment and climate change during the year. It discusses projects undertaken by ICFRE institutes. Both the documents were discussed and then unanimously adopted by the society for placing the same on the tables of both the houses of the Parliament. Hon’ble Minister released the book Butterfly-Forest Type Associations in Uttarakhand by Sh. A. P. Singh, FRI, Dehradun.
The meeting was attended by Shri C.P. Goyal IFS, DGF and SS and vice Chairman of BoG of ICFRE, Directors of different ICFRE institutes, HoFF of Assam, PCCF Haryana, other senior IFS officers, other esteemed members of the ICFRE Society and also senior officers from MoEFCC, New Delhi and ICFRE, Dehradun. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Sh. R. K. Dogra, IFS, DDG(Admin), ICFRE.
